In early 2007 TDX added the ability to supply the Thermoforming industry with PET film to its range of services with the installation of a PET extrusion line.

At TDX our Thermoforming film business is based on core principles of quality, customer service, environmental responsibility and food safety. These principles drive the continuous development of our films division and enable us to provide customers with a high quality product to the highest standards of customer service while meeting environmental and legislative requirements. By adhering to these core principles, demand for our films has grown significantly leading to rapid growth of our films business. Today we have 24’000MT of PET and PET/PE film capacity at our Gateshead based manufacturing plant supplying customers in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe

A UK Manufacturing location, with excellent transport links, means TDX is geographically close to its customer base providing a more flexible and reliable source of PET film with shorter lead times and lower transport costs. We offer a range of PET products for most Thermoforming applications ranging from high clarity food packaging and specialist recycled products to non-food applications. All products are available with options such as anti-block by means of master batch, silicone coating and anti-fog coating.

Breakdown-PET

For a number a number of reasons, billions of plastic containers find their way to landfill sites every year rather than being recycled for re-use. Breakdown-PET provides end-of- life solution to these discarded containers, enabling them to naturally decompose in a few years rather than centuries.Breakdown-PET is a revolutionary biodegradable* PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) film for the thermoformed packaging industry. Breakdown-PET is a recyclable AND biodegradable* PET film with all of the conventional properties of PET.Biodegration rates of Breakdown-PET plastic materials are measured according to the ASTM D5511 test method for determining anaerobic biodegration of plastics under water high solids anaerobic digestion conditions. Tests are generally conducted using 50% solids content. Solids content in naturally wetter landfills range from 55% to 65%, while the driest landfills may reach 93%. Actuall biodegration rates will vary in biology-active landfills according to the type of plastic used, the product configuration, and the solid content, temperature and moisture levels of the landfill.

Recoupet Hi – C

TDX has further developed its successful Recoupet formulation to produce a Hi-Clarity variant for higher end applications. Recoupet Hi – C retains all of the environmental benefits of Recoupet but with improved optics.

Eco-form

TDX has formulated Eco – Form to provide a lower cost alternative to conventional APET / RPET. Available in opaque or coloured material, Eco – Form has excellent processing characteristics and a lower density that APET/ RPET.

The addition of a specially formulated laminate enables optimum tray performance in VSP (Vacuum Skin Pack) applications.
