TDX provides a range of services to the Thermoformed Packaging industry in the UK, Europe and Worldwide. The Tooling division offers packaging design, rapid prototyping, sampling and full production tooling services to a wide range of Thermoformed packaging manufacturers.

Due to continued development of our business we have a number of vacancies in our Design and Development Department. The D&D department designs, manufactures prototype moulds and produces production quality prototype samples for high volume Thermoformed packaging manufacturers.

Design and Development Manager

TDX are now recruiting a hands on Design and Development Manager to oversee the day to day activities of the Design and Development department. The successful applicant will provide leadership and direction to the planning, design and production teams in this department. You will become the
advocate for innovation through the development of new products, whilst balancing the delivery of design led projects for a variety of customers in the UK and beyond.

This is a key role within the organisation requiring the successful applicant to display a wide range of skills and attributes.

  • Hands on and willing to manage all aspects of the Design and Product development process from incoming sales, planning, resource management, design, innovation and quality
  • Capable of implementing systems to monitor performance
  • A proven manager of people with ability to inspire and motivate
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Thermoforming experience preferable although all candidates from a design, creative, innovative and/or product development industry will be genuinely considered
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Customer focussed with a passion for exceeding customer expectations

3-D Product Designer

This role is within our thermoformed packaging design, prototype and sample department and will involve working directly with our customers.

Given the close working relationship with key accounts the successful applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to develop good working relationships with multiple contacts within the accounts. The role involves working in a very fast moving, high pressure environment to tight deadlines so resilience will be a key attribute of the successful candidate.

The successful applicant will possess some or all of the following skills.

  • Solidworks experience essential
  • Creative, innovative with a good aptitude for end product functionality
  • 3-axis vertical milling machine programming experience would be advantageous
  • Applicants with an Industrial Design and/or Thermoforming knowledge preferred.
  • Would suit a Graduate Trainee 3-D Product Design Engineer or second jobber looking for progression into a role with increased customer contact
  • Highly organised and able to manage a high volume workload in a fast moving environment working to strict deadlines
  • Resilient and capable of operating under pressure
  • Personable and able to deal with a wide range of customers over the telephone and in person in a mature manner

Conditions of Employment

Hours of Work
Normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.00am-4.30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid break each day.

Holiday Entitlement
20 days during a complete holiday year plus Bank Holidays, rising by 1 day per year for each completed year or service at the 1st January, up to a maximum of 25 days per year at 5 or more years of completed service. Employees are required to keep up to 5 days of their holiday to cover the Christmas and New Year holiday period. For part years of service entitlement will be calculated as 1/12th of the annual entitlement for each completed month of service during that holiday year.

Pension Scheme
All employees are automatically enrolled into the company pension scheme after having completed 3 months service and providing they have attained the age of 22 years, in line with the government regulations under auto enrolment. A 3% contribution is paid by the company and the employee is required to contribute 3% rising in line with Auto Enrolment rules. Contributions are based upon basic salary only.

Probationary period
12 months. Employment is subject the completion of a Medical History Form.

Salary Scale
Negotiable dependent on experience.
